Elif Öğüt, vice-rector of Kocaeli University in Turkiye, visited Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on Aug 8, where she was received by BFSU's Vice-President Zhao Gang.

During the exchange, Zhao provided an overview of BFSU's institutional history, academic strengths, high-level talent cultivation programs, and the current development of the School of Asian Studies and the Turkish language program.

Zhao noted that 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkiye, and that BFSU places great importance on exchanges and cooperation with Turkish universities. He expressed BFSU's readiness to collaborate with Kocaeli University in areas such as talent cultivation in relevant disciplines, faculty and student exchange visits, and the implementation of the Erasmus Program, thereby creating more opportunities for young people from both countries to deepen mutual understanding and contributing to China-Turkiye people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Öğüt expressed admiration for BFSU's outstanding achievements in disciplinary development and talent cultivation, and shared an overview of Kocaeli University. She expressed the hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further strengthen communication and complementarity between the two institutions, and to jointly advance multi-level exchanges and cooperation across various fields.
