A delegation of foreign ministry officials from Bangladesh visited Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on Aug 26.

The delegation, led by Sikder Mohammad Ashrafur Rahman, director of the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy, was welcomed by BFSU Vice-President Zhao Gang.

During the meeting, Zhao reviewed BFSU's contributions to promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Bangladesh and with countries around the world.

Zhao noted that the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy and BFSU share similar missions and visions, and said the visit of the young diplomats had opened a new channel of exchange between the youth of the two countries. He expressed hope that both sides would establish and expand cooperation, enabling young people of the two countries to learn from each other and deepen mutual understanding, thereby consolidating the foundation of bilateral friendship and jointly writing a new chapter in China-Bangladesh people-to-people exchanges.

Rahman spoke highly of BFSU's achievements in cultivating high-caliber talent for diplomacy and foreign trade, particularly the notable progress of its Bengali language program.

He expressed hope that young people from both countries would play a greater role in cultural exchanges and looked forward to establishing substantive cooperation with BFSU.

Following the talks, Professor Zeng Qiong of BFSU's Bengali language program delivered a lecture themed History of China-Bangladesh Exchanges: Records from Ancient Chinese Historical Sources. Students of the program also performed a bilingual poetry recitation.

Delegation members and BFSU faculty and students also discussed topics including Bengali talent cultivation and China-Bangladesh cultural exchanges.
