Dalian Hydrogen Energy Testing Center earns global praise
Updated: 2026-06-10
The 2026 annual meeting of the International Organization for Standardization’s Gas Cylinder Operations Subcommittee (ISO/TC 58/SC4) was held in Dalian, marking a milestone for China's hydrogen energy sector. Experts from multiple countries praised the Dalian Hydrogen Energy Testing Center for its cutting-edge capabilities and global safety assurance standards.
Spanning 29,000 square meters, the Center, built by Dalian Inspection Group, houses four specialized labs focusing on hydrogen environment, multifunctional testing, special environments, and material corrosion. Positioning itself as a “domestic initiative and international leader”, the Center has filled many global technological gaps. Its testing capabilities fully cover the entire product range of the new national standards GB/T 42612 and GB/T 42536 2023, while simultaneously meeting international advanced standard requirements, making it the first of its kind in China. It has also developed China’s first indoor fire- and explosion-proof lab, completing pioneering tests like the 70 MPa onboard hydrogen storage cylinder explosion assessment and filling global data gaps in hydrogen safety.
The center is enhancing its service industry capabilities by focusing on capacity expansion, quality improvement, integration, and internationalization to elevate Chinese manufacturing. It has established a comprehensive service system for the gas cylinder industry, including hydrogen energy testing, standard R&D, and international certification, covering the entire product lifecycle. The center utilizes digital and intelligent testing technologies and emphasizes "zero accidents, high standards, and high precision". It brings inspections to the hydrogen energy and advanced manufacturing industries, offering safety solutions and fostering innovation. The center aims to export Chinese safety solutions and standards, facilitating global market access for enterprises.
