Thousands of fishing boats departed from ports of all sizes at noon on Tuesday in Dalian, Liaoning province, as the four-month summer fishing moratorium in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Bay came to an end.

According to Dalian Daily, around 5,000 fishing vessels from 134 fishing ports across the city sailed out in an orderly fashion at noon on Tuesday, embarking on the autumn fishing season.

At a Liaoyu Group port in Ganjingzi district, hundreds of boats sounded their horns in unison at 11:58 am, before racing to the bountiful fishing grounds for the launch of the 2026 Dalian Liaoyu International Fishing Season. A culinary exhibition was held at the opening ceremony, featuring 20 teams of chefs that crafted 32 signature seafood dishes with ingredients supplied by Liaoyu.

Also on Tuesday, the "North Latitude 39°" coastal city harvest feast kicked off near the landmark Suoyuwan Football Stadium. The event's organizer, the Dalian Catering Industry Association, noted that Dalian's unique marine environment makes the local seafood exceptionally nutritious and particularly savory, earning it the industry-wide reputation of "Dalian Fresh".
