On the afternoon of June 13, two autonomous driving heavy trucks carrying coal entered Kangbashi district of Ordos via the Ulan Mulun toll station, where they will deliver the coal to Inner Mongolia Jingneng Kangbashi Thermal Power Co.

From the outside, these two vehicles look no different from other heavy trucks, but inside the driver's cabin, the safety officer sitting in the driver's seat is not touching the steering wheel. The driving, lane changes, entering and exiting toll stations, turns, and uphill driving are all fully autonomous.

On the way, the vehicle can charge at the Ordos Tianyao New Energy Smart Land Port near the thermal power plant. The two new energy vehicles are equipped with KargoBot's L4-level autonomous driving convoy system.

In March 2024, Kangbashi district issued the first smart connected vehicle testing license to KargoBot Autonomous Driving Co. After more than two months of trial operation, High-Quality Development Investment Co in Ordos and KargoBot jointly launched the L4-level autonomous driving convoy. A coal transport route from a coal mine in banners and districts of Ordos to the Ordos Kangbaishi Thermal Power Co was opened.

The annual transport volume along this route is expected to exceed 1 million metric tons. The route covers a distance of 50 kilometers and includes expressways, first-class roads, and special roads near the mine.
