In June 2022, the project was selected as part of China's second batch of large-scale wind and photovoltaic bases. Located in the contiguous area around the Shanghaimiao Power Plant in Otog Banner, the project site covers the coal mining subsidence area and future mining areas.
The third sub-project, which received a total investment of 4 billion yuan ($548 million) and has an area of 27,000 mu (1,800 hectares), has a total capacity of 1 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power.

This project's full-capacity grid connection and power generation can transmit 1.85 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually, meeting the annual electricity demand of 660,000 households. It also reduces standard coal consumption by about 560,000 metric tons, carbon dioxide emissions by 1.55 million tons, sulfur dioxide emissions by 189 tons, nitrogen oxide emissions by 283 tons, and smoke dust emissions by 40 tons annually.
This will further optimize the local energy structure, achieve energy conservation, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen ecological and environmental protection.
