An integrated green hydrogen project in Ejin Horoo Banner, co-developed by China Huadian Co, Inner Mongolia Zhengneng Chemical Industry Group, and Inner Mongolia Shengyuan Energy Group, was approved by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Energy Bureau on Dec 10, 2024.
The project, involving a planned total investment of 780 million yuan ($106.5 million), is designed with a hydrogen production capacity of 2,889 metric tons per year and a green electricity generation capacity of 120,000 kilowatts per hour (wind power 70,000 kW, and photovoltaic power 50,000 kW). It is also equipped with a 18,000 kW / 72,000 kWh energy storage system, the capacity of which is equal to 15 percent of the new energy installed capacity and can last up to 4 hours. Its hydrogen will be supplied to refueling stations and hydrogen fuel cell heavy trucks.
The land use rights approval procedure for the project, including a preliminary examination and a risk assessment, was completed within 15 days. This efficient and smooth process reduces time costs significantly and boosts enterprises' confidence in developing their projects in Ordos, adding new momentum to the development of Ordos' green energy industry.
