Xini, head of Uxin Banner in Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, gave an interview detailing the banner's industrial achievements in 2024 and outlining industrial development goals for 2025.
In 2024, Uxin Banner achieved significant economic and social progress. The regional GDP reached 60.25 billion yuan ($8.24 billion), up 5.6 percent year over year, marking the third consecutive 10-billion-level leap in four years. Fixed asset investment surged 37.5 percent, ranking among the highest in Ordos for the second successive year. The banner also secured 18 key projects and attracted 18 billion yuan in investment from outside the region, leading the city in this regard.
Project development was also a highlight. The Baofeng olefin project launched two production lines, the Huineng Zhuozheng new materials project progressed, and the region's first modern coal chemical innovation pilot base was put into operation.
In 2025, Uxin Banner will focus on planning and constructing major projects, strengthening innovation-driven development, and enhancing industrial park capabilities. A total of 33 major projects are planned, each exceeding 100 million yuan in investment. Chemical production capacity is expected to increase by 3 million metric tons, and industrial output will surpass 100 billion yuan.
Efforts will be concentrated on extending the downstream industrial chains of methanol, synthetic ammonia, and olefin while moving up the value chain. The banner also aims to attract investment of 16 billion yuan from outside the region.
Xini emphasized that a key priority in 2025 is the high-quality development of Ordos National Modern Coal Chemical Industry Demonstration Base's core zone. The banner will focus on project development, industrial growth, innovation, and park enhancement, contributing to Ordos' vision of building "four world-class industries" and pioneering a distinctive, differentiated, and circular development model among the four national modern coal chemical demonstration zones.
