The site selection and land use proposal for the Shanghaimiao-Shuiquan green hydrogen pipeline project, funded by Inner Mongolia Mengqing Pipeline Network Co, was approved by the Ordos municipal bureau of natural resources on Dec 18.

Located in Shuiquanzi village, Shanghaimiao town, the project involves a total investment of 610 million yuan ($86.65 million) and will occupy 4.59 hectares. Its facilities will include compressor stations, a venting area, access roads and side-slope roads.

The pipeline project is part of Ordos' effort to implement national and regional hydrogen energy policies. It is designed to optimize the supply-demand balance of green hydrogen, reduce transportation costs and strengthen cross-regional coordination.

Once completed, the project is expected to boost large-scale development of green hydrogen in western Inner Mongolia autonomous region and help cut carbon emissions in local industry, providing important support for the country's "dual carbon" goals.
