As of Dec 25, 2025, Sinopec North China Petroleum Co's Daniu and Dongsheng gas fields in the Ordos Basin have cumulatively produced over 70 billion cubic meters of natural gas. This milestone marks significant progress in the large-scale, efficient development of China's tight sandstone gas reservoirs.

Located on the northern edge of the Ordos Basin, the Daniu and Dongsheng gas fields are key sites for Sinopec's tight gas development. Characterized by "low permeability, low pressure, and low abundance," these fields represent typical challenges in China's gas extraction efforts. After years of research and practice, Sinopec North China Petroleum established the Daniu and Dongsheng fields in 2005 and 2015, respectively.

The company has focused on maintaining stable production from the Daniu tight sandstone gas reservoir, achieving over 3 billion cu m annually for 13 consecutive years. Additionally, it has concentrated on the efficient development of the Dongsheng high water-bearing tight gas reservoir, maintaining a production decline rate of under 20 percent.

To date, the two fields have submitted proven reserves exceeding 770 billion cu m, with an annual production capacity nearing 5 billion cu m. This achievement significantly contributes to national energy security and supports high-quality development across provinces along the Yellow River basin.
