BFSU holds setting-out ceremony for Beijing 2022 volunteers

Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) held a setting-out ceremony for volunteers of the upcoming 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on Jan 18. The multilingual call center was put into operation at the event.

Attendees included representatives from BFSU, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYL).

The ceremony was presided over by Huang Lunlun, secretary of the CYL BFSU committee.

The university will send more than 900 professional volunteers to the Games.

Wang Dinghua, Party secretary of the CPC BFSU committee, handed out flags to the university’s volunteer team and encouraged them to tell Chinese stories well and be a voice for China on the world stage.

Yang Dan, deputy Party secretary of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, Wan Xuejun, deputy director-general of the International Relations Department at the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and volunteer representatives unveiled the multilingual call center, which will provide translation services in 21 languages.

Wan thanked teachers and students from BFSU for serving the Games and stressed the importance of their missions. He said he hopes BFSU volunteers will shoulder their responsibilities, give full play to their language advantages and devote themselves to the Games.

Su Dapeng, deputy Party secretary of the CPC BFSU committee, extended congratulations to the teachers and students who were selected as volunteers. He suggested that all BFSU volunteers should inherit volunteer spirits and present the professionalism of BFSUers as they serve the Games.

Su called on volunteers to abide by working rules, communicate and ask for instructions in a timely manner and safeguard the image of China. He also encouraged them to tell Chinese stories with global vision and undertake the responsibilities and duties of the younger generation.

Guan Bo, a teacher representative, talked about his feelings of serving the Games and spoke of a volunteer’s responsibilities.

Yewen Xiaoyu, a volunteer under closed-loop management, shared her working situation as well as her understanding of dedication via video link. 

A parent representative expressed her gratitude to BFSU and delivered her blessings to volunteers.

At the end of the ceremony, BFSU volunteers took an oath and performed See You in Beijing, the theme song of Beijing 2022, manifesting the university's determination to contribute to the upcoming 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
