Annual Report on Development of Malaysia (2024) released

The Blue Book of Malaysia: Annual Report on Development of Malaysia (2024) was released at an online seminar on China-Malaysia relations held on Dec 28.

The seminar was hosted by the Academy of Regional and Global Governance, the School of Asian Studies and the Centre for China-Malay Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), in collaboration with the Research Center for ASEAN Countries at Peking University and the Social Sciences Academic Press (SSAP).

Zhao Gang, a member of the standing committee of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, and Ji Xiangde, secretary of the CPC SSAP committee and president of the press, addressed the event.

The launch event consisted of four sessions: the book release ceremony, keynote speeches, expert presentations and concluding remarks.

During the keynote session, Xu Liping, researcher at the National Institute of International Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, shared insights on building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future; Chew Mei Fun, Malaysia's former deputy minister of women, family and community development and former secretary-general of the Malaysian Chinese Association, reflected on Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s political stance two years after the unity government took office; while Ngeow Chow Bing, associate professor and director of the Institute of China Studies at the University of Malaya, discussed Trump 2.0 and the prospects and challenges for China-Malaysia relations.

The Blue Book of Malaysia, written by experts and scholars from renowned domestic and international universities and research institutions, was facilitated by BFSU’s School of Asian Studies and the Centre for China-Malay Studies, as well as the Research Center for ASEAN Countries at Peking University.

It focuses on Malaysia's internal and external developments, offering a comprehensive, multidimensional analysis of the country’s political, economic, diplomatic, social and cultural trends from 2023 to early 2024, as well as latest updates on China-Malaysia relations.
