2025 World Model United Nations meeting held at BFSU

The 2025 World Model United Nations high-level meeting for ages 10 to 18, co-hosted by the Chinese-Foreign Humanities Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education and Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), was held at BFSU on Nov 29.

Ding Hao, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BFSU Committee and BFSU vice-president, emphasized the crucial role of youth in shaping a better future. He highlighted 2025 as the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and encouraged young people to embrace significant ideas and assume their generational responsibilities.

Ding called on the youth to become advocates for peace, pioneers of innovation, participants in societal progress, and champions of cultural exchange and justice. He encouraged them to apply a global perspective in their actions, contributing their youthful energy to the advancement of world peace and civilization.

Chen Taowei from the Chinese-Foreign Humanities Exchange Center emphasized cultural exchange as a key pillar of China's distinctive approach to major power diplomacy. He noted that such events are vital for fostering mutual understanding and promoting intercultural dialogue.

Chen noted that since its inception, the World Model United Nations meeting has expanded annually, enhancing its educational impact and brand influence. He stated that this platform offers young people the opportunity to broaden their international perspectives and improve their cross-cultural communication and multilateral negotiation skills.

The meeting unveiled the World Youth Initiative to Build a Shared Future, urging young people to  embrace responsibilities, uphold multilateralism, and work together to build a community with a shared future for humanity.

Over 600 young people from 15 countries, namely China, Algeria, Australia, Brazil, Russia, France, Kazakhstan, Canada, Cameroon, the United States, Morocco, Spain, Greece, India, and Jordan, participated in the meeting. They will engage in in-depth discussions on 11 international topics across 15 committee sessions, seeking to build cooperative consensus.
