BFSU holds New Year celebration for international teachers

Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) held a New Year celebration event for international teachers on Dec 26. More than 100 international teachers and their families from 45 countries gathered together to celebrate the arrival of 2026.

Zhao Gang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BFSU Committee and vice-president of the university, attended the event.

Zhao extended heartfelt New Year greetings and gratitude to all international teachers and their families for their dedicated work in teaching and research. He reviewed BFSU's past year achievements in teaching, research, and international exchange. He acknowledged the positive contributions of international teachers to the university's efforts in cultivating global talents, discipline development, and international cooperation. Zhao highlighted that foreign teachers are not only disseminators of knowledge and culture but also important bridges for fostering mutual understanding between China and other countries.

Zhao presented honorary teaching certificates to international teachers who have served at BFSU for over fifteen years.

Michele Ferrero, an Italian professor from the International Institute of Chinese Studies, Rokas Liutkevicius, a Lithuanian teacher from the School of European Languages and Cultures, Sinknesh Atale Gebre, an Ethiopian associate professor from the School of African Studies, and Hendy Yuniarto, an Indonesian teacher from the School of Asian Studies, spoke as representatives of the award-winning foreign teachers.

They shared insights from their long-term work at BFSU, praising the university's diverse cultural atmosphere, talent development and achievements. They expressed that their experiences at BFSU over the past decade have been unforgettable and that they are honored to have contributed to the university's efforts in cultivating international talent and advancing teaching research. They thanked BFSU for its long-term support and care, which made them feel part of an international family, and they look forward to further contributing to the university's development and promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and other countries.

This year's event featured special activities such as dumpling-making and traditional Chinese calligraphy, offering participants the chance to engage in cultural exchange and enjoy the festive atmosphere together.
