This book explains why contemporary China's development aims to promote peace, with the condition for achieving it to maintain peace, and the ultimate effect is to consolidate peace. From the historical point of view, "emphasizing peace" is the mainstream and the overall theme in Chinese culture, while "valuing competition" is considered temporary and partial.
From a theoretical point of view, the establishment of "expanding and strengthening market-based government" to protect property rights and guarantee contracts is an important condition for promoting innovation and realizing "gains from trade", on which the long-term and rapid economic growth is precisely built.
In reality, China is undergoing a historical transition from an agricultural society to an industrialized society, from a planned economy to a socialist market economy, from the rule of man over thousands of years to the rule of law, and from limited opening up to full opening up. It is shouldering the historic responsibility of modernizing the national governance system and capacity, and overcoming the middle-income trap. Only by promoting peace through development and maintaining development through peace can such a transition be achieved smoothly. China cannot develop in isolation from the world, and the world cannot develop in isolation from China.
