Purpose and Vision

The World Association for China Studies (WACS) is a non-profit and non-governmental, international social organization composed voluntarily of China studies institutions, scholars and experts from all countries and regions in the world.

The purpose of WACS is to promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of China studies, enhance communication and dialogue between China and the world, promote common development and prosperity between China and the world, and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Governance and Organization

The World Association for China Studies is governed by the General Assembly, which meets every five years. The executive body between these sessions is the Governing Board, responsible for day-to-day operations and accountable to the General Assembly. The Governing Board establishes a Secretariat, including the Administrative Office, the Communications and Membership Department, the Programs and Cooperation Department, the Information and Research Department, and the Multimedia Center.

Members

​As of January 2024, the World Association for China Studies has a total of 86 members, including 64 individuals and 22 institutions. Among them are 36 Chinese members and 50 international members. The international members represent think tanks and research institutions from 34 countries and regions, including India, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, the US, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Australia and New Zealand, covering almost all continents.
