This book introduces China's achievements in reform and opening up. This book mainly tells the story of China from 12 aspects: reform path, opening-up, macroeconomics, regional development, policies relating to agriculture, rural areas and farmers, poverty alleviation and eradication, industrial development, scientific and technological leadership, ecological civilization, human resources, social security, and income distribution.
It tells the success story of China's reform and opening up to promote development and sharing, as well as the beneficial experience of establishing special economic zones and pilot zones first and then implementing regional development strategies, and creating conditions to repeat the miracle of coastal development in the central and western regions.
On the one hand, these experiences can be elevated to the Chinese wisdom of general significance in a theoretical way and serve as a reference for other developing countries. On the other hand, in the context of China is further participating in economic globalization and world economic governance, these experiences can become a Chinese plan to promote the healthy development of economic globalization and help the vast number of developing countries get rid of poverty and move toward modernization.
The success of a country's reform and development is necessarily the product of practice and exploration in accordance with a certain concept in line with its specific national conditions. In this sense, it is undoubtedly of academic value in development economics to refine successful practices and reveal their general meanings. As China's population accounts for nearly one fifth of the world's total, the challenges and difficulties China faces at the starting point of reform and opening up are similar to those of many developing countries. Therefore, summarizing China's experience and elevating it to Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions will provide a new choice for other developing countries.
