This book is the final result of the major research project of the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative from the Publicity Department of the CPC, undertaken by the National Institute for Global Strategy (NIGS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). It is also one of the phased achievements of the construction of the special discipline of "International Strategy"established by the NIGS in 2016. 

The project focuses on the connotations, patterns and realization paths of the major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era, with a particular emphasis on the period since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, especially since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative. The purpose of the project is to provide intellectual support for the promotion of the BRI.
