The Center for the Study of Traditional Chinese Culture of Wuhan University was established in 1996 as an interdisciplinary academic institution for studying traditional Chinese culture, involving first-level disciplines such as Chinese history, philosophy, and literature, and is a key research base for humanities and social sciences under the Ministry of Education.
The center is committed to the research and promotion of traditional Chinese culture, focusing on exploring the "source" and "flow" of Chinese culture, with a focus on the history of Chinese culture, the ideological history of the pre Qin and Han dynasties, the study of ancient Chinese etiquette, the social and economic history of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the history of Ming and Qing philosophy, the literature of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, modern cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and China's modern cultural transformation. Since its establishment, the center has published more than 200 academic works, and has published a series of Humanities Essays.
