Michael Lackner is a sinologist. He is Chair Professor of Chinese Studies at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, and fellow of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. His major research fields include Classical studies in Song dynasty, China-Western cross-cultural transfer and history of political thought in China. He is the author of A Collection of Sinological Writings by Michael Lackner, Mapping Meanings: The Field of New Learning in Late Qing China, and New Terms for New Ideas: Western Knowledge and Lexical Change in Late Imperial China, etc.
